Soft objects in flow

Understanding the behavior of red blood cells in shear flow is highly relevant as their viscoelastic properties change in several diseases, e.g. malaria. Lipid Vesicles serve as ideal model systems.

We are able to control and manipulate gel or emulsion droplets as well as living cells in microchannels at high rates by acoustic streaming. This technology ist highly prospective for lab-on-a-chip applications.
