Beginn 17.10.2011
Inhalt In this course the basic principles of optical spectroscopy as a tool to probe the optical conductivity of solids will be treated. The course is a combination of lectures, seminar talks and practical work. Written exercises will support the understanding of the contents and will have to be handed in at the beginning of the lectures.

Vorkenntnisse Standard knowledge of solid state physics is a mandatory prerequisite: lattice vibrations, electron gas, optical properties of solids. Participants must be familiar with the corresponding chapters in the textbook by Charles Kittel "Introduction to Solid State Physics".

Literatur Ch. Kittel: "Introduction to Solid State Physics". Neil W. Ashcroft, N. David Mermin: "Solid State Physics" Eugene Hecht: optics"

Weitere Informationen The initial meeting will be on Monday, 17.10.2011, at 09.30 am in room 403 in the Southern building (EKM). The course is limited to nine participants.
