Inhalt An electromagnetic response and plasma oscillations of low-dimensional electron systems (such as semiconductor quantum wells, wires, dots, graphene) have been intensively studied, both experimentally and theoretically, during the past ~50 years. An overview of the plasma physics in such systems (bulk and edge plasmons and magnetoplasmons in two dimensions, plasma excitations in quantum wires and dots, plasma instabilities) will be given in this lecture course. Fundamental physical phenomena and their possible applications in microwave and terahertz electronics will be discussed.
